Perfect Place Setting

Oh my gosh y'all, ever since Pretty Woman I have been a little intimidated by fancy dining. I often dream of having my very own "slippery little suckers" moment. At least with this Image the only thing that will stand out is my fidgeting and bad manners. I think a proper place setting is a dying art, everything has become so casual even the expensive stuff. So I am loving this nod to nostalgia.

Cupcakes in a Jar

Aren't they Adorable. Perfect to give away as party favors. Put a Label on the lid and tie a ribbon around it, and there you have it. A really Sweet Gift. I can not wait to make these.

The Grill

Sometimes I just get the urge to grill something. The smell of the grill and the outside just seems to call my name. I love to have a few people over, and watch the kids play, while eating delicious and juicy food; It sounds like the BEST TIME EVER!

I also have a new blog crush, and now is a good time to tell you about it since the images above are from their blog. Taste Spotting, not only does their recipes sound delicious but the photography is beautiful. If you love food you must check it out.

Beach Cupcakes

Banana Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Cream cheese frosting adorned with brown sugar as sand, a blue shark gummy and a drink umbrella. Everyone loved them. Off course there was tons more food but these were the crowd favorite. Plus I have a confession, I wanted to enjoy the birthday party so I opted just to do the cupcakes and food and left the ice cream cake to HEB, a local super market. Sometimes I just get so tied up in making cakes I don't get to have any fun when it is my family! Other cake bakers will understand! :) It was a blast. Happy Birthday Poppy.

The birthday Girl, She is three!!

Slutty Pregnant Belly Cake

I was really busy this weekend getting ready and having my second daughters birthday party. So I couldn't possibly help out when my sister and law called and wanted a pregnant belly cake, for a baby shower she was helping out with. I felt really bad that I couldn't help, and even worse when she showed me what a local bakery gave her to mimic my cake that I had previously done for another shower. Y'all she was charged $112 for this.

The picture above is what she was given, the pregnant girl is wearing lingerie on this cake and it had nipples my sis in law took them off. The picture below is my cake, this is the picture they gave to the bakery to copy.

The bakery did the right thing by refunding her money, but my sister in law was for sure upset about this one!

It is no longer just about the cake. People are setting up swanky dessert tables that will fancy every sweet tooth. I love it, they are glorious, and perfectly suitable for a big event. No longer will we be forced to eat an outrageous cake flavor and pretend to love it. (Because it was so unbearable...) Now as a guest we can sample all sorts of delectable treats for such sweet occasions.

Society Bakery

We took a Mini Vacation to the zoo, nothing big just family time. It just so happened that it fell on my youngest daughters birthday, so what a great excuse for me to try someone else's stuff. After doing a little research and surfing the internet I decided on Society Bakery. First off I love the shop, everything a little Sweet shop should be, Quaint, Fun, Personable, and Delicious-from the first smell. There was a young guy who helped me and he was quite entertaining and funny. His description of each item I chose just made me want to keep adding more to my box, he was delightful, I hate it that I didn't catch his name. Everything we had was good, some better than others, but still good.

Oh my gosh these cookies were so huge we nibbled on them all day! This cookie I halved between my two kids and I was still able to eat their scraps. It was super yum and soft.

Brownie- "The best damn thing I have ever eaten."
The brownie was not cake like which I have gotten used to, but do not prefer. This Brownie was most definitely fudgey! Loved It. After it was gone I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was sad that it was gone. Still sad:(

My husband ate the Bread Pudding Whoopi Pie. He had never experienced anything like it and would go back just for it. Huge thumbs up from him!

Petit Fours
I love petit fours in general and I usually look forward to having them. These were not my favorite, but everyone else who sampled loved them! A lot. I didn't get it.

We got one of everything they had over the counter for that day!
Just a Little Criticism- When I buy cupcakes and because I also make cakes, I not only want a delicious cake I want the Best Dressed ones as well. These were all yummy but the presentation was lacking.

This Cinnamon Roll was Awesome, we didn't wait to demolish it for breakfast we had it that night!

Red Velvet in my opinion always a crowd pleaser. Yumm!

Oreo
I loved this cupcake, but if you took the oreo of the top it wasn't really reminiscent of an Oreo. It more had the intense sweetness of a doughnut, Really Sweet. I loved it!

Besides the Brownie this one was my favorite. The Peanut Butter Icing was super I could have eaten it by itself. The cake was the same it had little chunks of peanut through out! It was something to talk about!

The other cupcakes were good, Cake was moist and Icing Sweet, nothing really to set apart they were just the generic strawberry, chocolate, and white. However I am forgetting the Banana Chocolate Chip which also deserved a picture but it came out to blurry so I spared you an eye squint.

It was over all a wonderful experience and I would gladly go back!

Caprese

Mmmm! Caprese: Fresh, Yummy, Juicy, Cheesy, Simple.

Wishful Thinking

I am no longer wanting just a bakery, a full blown Restaurant will do. One with elegant and high class touches, but old charm; I mean is there any other way?

I am a mother of two, and i am always looking for ideas that my kids can do in the kitchen. These Hotdogs and noodles are perfect. They look so yummy too, for them any ways. Add a little melted velveeta and milk at the end and Voila, total kids meal.

Ice Cream Cupcakes

So, I often surf the internet for inspiration and I have seen tons of adorable ideas but this one literally takes the cake. I love how they have them displayed on a marble slab. How do they make them look impeccable?  Sooo cute. I will be trying these out soon!

Cake Mix Cookies

I have been so cake minded lately. So when I was asked to bring cookies to my babies church function I wanted to do something fun and new. Some how I still reverted back to cake. I did Chewy Lemon Drops and Chocolate On the Rocks. Here is the funny part, made out of cake mix. Small tip for you bakers who don't know this already: you can add 1/2 cup vegetable oil and two large eggs to any cake mix and you have a yummy cookie dough. Lemon and Strawberry are my favorites!
